Sarah’s family lived in Vágsellye (Šal’a) near the Slovakian-Hungarian border. The location of the town was extremely important in the smuggling of Jewish refugees over the border into Hungary. “Aduma” took part in this smuggling, waited for the refugees at the railway station, gave them overnight accommodation and, the following day, took care of their transfer to Budapest. Sarah worked with the underground until she was arrested.
One of he refugees who was caught gave her name and address to his interrogators. “Aduma” was deported to Auschwitz where she perished.
